“How can a title contender remain relaxed when the stakes are so high?”
“This condition arises from the awareness that his success alone is not enough to guarantee the final result, so he can relax more, as he knows that not everything depends on him. The rider who is chasing is free from the heavy load of responsibility related to conquering the world title because this can arrive only as a consequence of a mistake from the leader. This creates a transfer of responsibility. In this way, the challenger returns to the race aiming only at the single victory without the pressure of world competition.”
